Dallas Internment Camps

For this project, I plan to research Dallas area Internment camps from World War II. I guess we'll see what I can dig up! I know that some interesting happenings did occur, and for quite some time I have planned to write a book about the trading of prisoners to Nazi Germany. The book would be similar to Schindler's List, Snow Falling On Cedars, etc. It will be interesting to see what new information I can come up with!

  1. How fascinating! I can't wait to see/learn more. Powerful. Painful.

Have you seen the archives on this in this area? One of our libraries digital collections includes interviews and artifacts from WWII vets and affected families/places. Those materials are available for your new media project as well. If you are interested, let's talk about how to best make this happen.

    Thanks!

These are just a few links I'll post more later.

I don't if any of these links are ones that reflect the cruelty that the US imposed on those of Jewish decent, such as trading them to Germany for Americans. I'll have to research my research. More later!

  4. Fascinating! So much amazing, important stuff out there. But *more* is crucial! I'm glad we might be able to make some productive use of the WWII archives, as well. Thanks!

  5. Read an interesting perspective in one of the books, could have been An Army At Dawn that spoke of these camps and the German prisoners who were allowed to go into cafes while black American soldiers were denied admission.

    Chuckle.
